Berlin Street Style guide: The Knit Pullover
The Knit Pullover is the first part of le petit matin’s Berlin Street Style supercut: the best of the best style advice for urban chicness. Naturally we start with one of the classics, one of the hardest workers in your wardrobe. There is nothing like effortlessly wearing a knit pullover, especially those deliciously long-sleeved items from the men’s department.
To complete the Berlin look, Angelika Taschen recommends primarily wearing “coarsely knit boyfriend-style sweaters.” The brave “will reach for one that looks hand knit.” “Chic pants of brocade or lace and tantalizing pumps” give it that Berlin touch.
Faux pas: Do not “wear pullovers that are too narrow or are too short – those cut above the belly do not work at all. Nor do those with pastel tones and puffed sleeves. You should also never squeeze a blouse under a pullover – it’s better to wear only an undershirt.”
As with me, Angelika Taschen prefers pullovers in black, gray, and dark blue. Works with everything, always classy. Stay away from cheap fabrics and poorly made sweaters. Go for cashmere, cotton, wool and a fine merino.
